An interlocking joint for use between load bearing surfaces such as temporary roadways 12, 12a comprises a first means 20 preventing movement in one direction and a second means 30 preventing movement in a second direction, one means, 20, preventing movement in both directions. The first means comprises a hooked lip 20 engaging a space 34 to prevent vertical and horizontal movement by virtue of extended top plate 14 and vertical wall 42 and lip 20 and wall 40 respectively. The second means comprises a tapered tongue 30 which engages a corresponding groove 58 in the member 12a. The joint may be further secured by welds. |
