<p>PURPOSE:To easily remove the coating of an optical fiber without applying force in the direction where the optical fiber is cut by notching the whole peripheral surface on both sides of a section where the coating should be removed, and providing the curvature to the coating removal part, and cutting the coating in the tangential direction to the clad part by a second cutting blade, and removing the coating while moving the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The whole peripheral surface on both sides of a removal range of a coating 2 of the optical fiber is notched up to a certain depth by a first cutting blade 5, and a curvature is provided to this coating removal part and the optical fiber is cut up to a contact in the vicinity of a clad part 4 in the tangential direction to the clad part 4 by a second cutting blade 8A, and in such a state, the optical fiber is moved toward the second cutting blade 8A. Thus, the sheath of the optical fiber is removed without applying the pressing force of the second cutting blade 8A in the direction where the clad part 4 is cut.</p> |
