PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a rotor without the drastic deterioration of performance by constituting the rotor of magnets lined in their peripheral parts with ceramic layers of a specific thickness and magnetic pole pieces having a diameter actually equal to the initial diameter of these magnets. CONSTITUTION: This separator has the rotor 10 provided with the ring type magnetic pole pieces 22 superposed on each other and the permanent magnets 20 arranged to stagger from each other on a shaft, a brush 18 for removing paramagnetic particles from the rotor 10 and means 14 to 16 for separately collecting these paramagnetic particles and nonmagnetic particles. The circumferences of the magnets 20 are coated with the ceramic layers having a thickness below 50 μ and the actual bore of the magnetic pole pieces 22 is set equal to the bore of the magnets 20. Consequently, the service life of the rotor may be prolonged without the drastic deterioration of the performance. |
