Cast rim for vehicle wheel - has rib of spiral cross=section joining support ring and cone and forming pockets

The cast rim for a vehicle wheel, partic. for a tubeless tyre, has a deep peripheral bed (1) joined to a support ring (2) for the wheel spokes, and to a cone (3) with a bead (8) on the same side. Pockets (6) are formed between the ring and the cone on opposite sides of a rib (4) joining the two together. The rib is of spiral cross-section, forming pockets alternately open to the outside and inside. The pockets are pref. of the same size and shape. The rib can comprisea offset straight sections, joined together by oblique ones, with radiused portions in between. ADVANTAGE - Improved stability of lightweight design.
