The articulator for use in producing a dental prosthesis has a base (1) on which two pillars (6, 7) are mounted. These pillars (6, 7) support a plate (2) which is attached to a cross-member (3) which can pivot in bearings (4, 5) on the upper ends of the pillars (6, 7). The plate (40) which supports a model of the prosthesis is mounted on a spacer (20) which is attached to the base (1). The model support plate (40) is placed on a layer of synthetic resin which is spread over the spacer (20). Whilst the resin is still in a plastics state, the model support plate is arranged at the required angle relative to the base (1). When the resin hardens the model is then held at the required angle.
