PROCESS FOR EQUALIZING SIGNALS BY MEANS OF TEST SEQUENCES

Signals from terrestrial emitters can reach the receiver by reflections over several paths and be superimposed in the receiver. In order to equalize digitally coded signals, test sequences of agreed structure are transmitted before the useful data are transmitted. The test sequences are correlated with a test sequence of the agreed structure stored in the receiver and the result of the correlation, in the form of a channel impact response obtained from a correlation spectrum, is used to control the filter coefficients of a filter arrangement which inversely simulates one of the transmission functions of the transmission channel. The process can be used in the transmission of digitally coded signals by terrestrial emitters.
