Moulding material system comprises ceramic fire-resistant material (I) and non-aq. binder (II). The improvement is that (I) comprises at least 98 wt.% aluminium nitride and (II) contains at least one organic titanium cpd., pref. a polymeric titanic acid ester, esp. chelated with beta-diketone. Pref. the new system comprises 70-80 wt.% aluminium nitride. Pref. the new system is combined with a sand comprising aluminium nitride and/or aluminium oxide. USE - New system is useful for the prodn. of ceramic castings for the fine casting of reactive metals by the wax-melt process using lost patterns.
