Carbonised lignite for purification of waste water - prepd. by open hearth with sulphuric acid by doping coke

Carbonised lignite is activated by doping coke, produced from brown coal by the open-hearth process, with 10-30 wt.% of sulphuric acid, based on the wt. of the coke; the doped coke is heated to about 500 deg.C; and then held hot at these temps. for about 0.5 hour. USE - Lignite so activated is useful for the absorptive purificn. of waste water; for the catalytic conversion of nitrogen oxides with ammonia in flue gas; and for adsorptive gas purificn.
