PURPOSE: To obtain a simple ink metering roller of a low cost having a long operating lifetime by incorporating a hydrophobic and oleophilic microporous wear resistant surface layer impregnated with a chemically inert organic material. CONSTITUTION: A microporous ceramic powder coated surface is impregnated as deep as possible with oleophilic and hydrophobic organic material into a ceramic coating to be as oleophilic and hydrophoblic as possible. A material (organic material) for satisfying this requirements includes various non-reactive substances such as, for example, (a) a poly(acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), (b) a poly(acrylstyreneacrylonitrile), (c) a polyethylene, (d) a polypropylene, (e) a poly(styeneacrylonitride), (f) a polystyrene, (g) a polyphenylsulfide, (h) a poly(phenyleneether phenoloxide), (i) a polybutadiene, and (j) a polybutene. |
