An isotope separator of the type having an evacuated tank, a magnetic field through the tank, and an ion source and a receiver wherein the ion source is orientated at a slight angle to the magnetic field lines such that the stream of ions exiting from the ion source spiral along the magnetic field in a helical path, producing a three-stage separation after 540 DEG of rotation, and the desired isotopic ions are collected in a receiver located at the 540 DEG focus.
