ZINC ALLOY FOR ALKALINE-ZINC BATTERY AND ALKALINE-ZINC BATTERY USING IT

PURPOSE:To suppress the rise of the inner pressure of a battery and obtain good storage property by coating an unamalgamated or low-amalgamated alloy as the main active material of a negative electrode with a specific corrosion inhibitor. CONSTITUTION:An unamalgamated zinc alloy 1 or a low-amalgamated zinc alloy 1 with the mercury quantity up to 500ppm as the main active material of a negative electrode is coated with a film 2 containing a fluorine surface active agent and a corrosion inhibitor 3 containing elements of the group IIIB in the periodic table. The corrosion inhibitor 3 is made of at least one oxide, hydroxide or alkaline metal salt among a group of In, Ga, Tl and B. The total stuck quantity of the fluorine surface active agent is 0.01-1wt.% against zinc alloy 1wt.%. The total stuck quantity of the corrosion inhibitor 3 is 0.01-10wt.% against zinc alloy 1wt.%.
