PURPOSE:To provide a small-sized optical signal source for generating optical signal in directions opposite to each other by providing on two surfaces of a resin outer casing dome-shaped light emitting parts for directing to the outside light emitted from a semiconductor for light emitting element in two directions different from each other with directivity. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor light emitting device 1 is molded in a resin outer casing 3. Dome-shaped optical collector parts 4, 4 are formed on two surfaces intersecting the direction of light emission from the element 1 and parallel to a surface on which leads 2, 2 are arranged. Hereby, a small-sized optical signal source can be yielded, which generates an optical signal having principal directivities in two directions 5b, 5b opposite to each other. Thus, a limitation of an installation space is greatly reduced upon application of the source to varieties of optical utilization apparatuses, and hence a long life low power consumption light source can be assured. |
