The cooker for foods of the cereal type, such as maize, consists of a vessel 2 intended to receive water, the food to be cooked and, if appropriate, seasonings; this vessel is associated with a heating system 8. This cooker includes means permitting the permanent control of the evolution of physical parameters of the culinary mass, which parameters are in direct relationship with the degree of gelatinisation of the starch in the grains, so as to control and automatically stop cooking at a desired level. These means consist of a device 9 for sensing the volumetric variation of the grains, which sensing device 9 consists of a plate intended to come to rest on the culinary mass. This plate 9 is movable vertically in order to follow the volumetric evolution of the grains and it is associated with means 36, 37 ensuring stopping of the heating 8 when it reaches a specific level. The movement of the sensing device 9 controls the selective opening of the drain valve 20 by means of mechanical means 13, 15, 17, 18. <IMAGE> |
