1309177 Sampling falling particulate material SHERRITT GORDON MINES Ltd 13 July 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 32843/71 Heading B8N [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for removing samples of particulate material from a vessel, e.g. a multiplehearth furnace within which the material is falling comprises a tubular member 26 terminating at the end in an open ended channel section 44, and having adjacent the other end a sample discharge outlet 50, and a manually movable pusher plate 56. An outer sleeve 36 is secured to the member 26 and defines therewith an annular cooling chamber 30. Coolant, e.g. water, is supplied via conduit 40 and discharged via conduit 41. The member 26 adjacent its other end is provided with an inlet 68 for an inert gas, e.g. nitrogen. In use, the apparatus is secured by means of flange 31 to the wall 17 of the vessel with the channel section 44 positioned within the vessel. A sample of the material falling within the vessel will enter the channel section and subsequent movement of the pusher plate 56 in direction A will cause the sample to be displaced along the member 26 and through the outlet 50 into a container 53 detachably secured thereto. |
