A CO2 laser with an inside discharge tube (8) is surrounded by a coaxial cooling water pipe (6) pref. made of acrylic glass, both leading to a protective casing (1) with a screw-on cover (5). The cylindrical element (3) inside the casing (1) has a coaxial insert (2), serving as the electrode. O-rings seal all these parts. Transformer oil (11) is supplied through the opening (10), and cooling water (9) through the inlet (13). ADVANTAGE - This permits the use of plain glass and plastic tubes, just cut to length. The exchange of electrodes is simplified.
