A reversing light switch for use on road vehicles has a plunger actuator (2) that is located in the bore of a cylindrical body that screws into the gearbox housing. The plunger, which is spring biased (23), has a profited tip that locates in a recess in a spring metal diaphragm (9) that seals the actuator housing relative to the switch stage (8). The switch has a pair of contacts (17) that are bridged when a contact disc (4) is displaced by the diaphragm being deflected.
