CONTROLLER FOR OUTBOARD ENGINE

PURPOSE:To improve shifting of the title outboard engine provided with a handle grip for controlling a throttle with a steering handle for turning a propulsion unit around a steering axis by providing a shifting part for controlling an ahead/astern selecting device in the propulsion unit with the steering handle. CONSTITUTION:The propulsion unit 19 of an outboard engine is constituted so as to transmit the rotating force of an engine unit 20 mounted on the upper portion thereof to a propeller through an ahead/astern selecting device (not shown) built in the propulsion unit 19. The propulsion unit 19 has a steering handle fixed thereon through a steering bracket 22 for making the propulsion unit rotatable to a swivel bracket 15. On the tip of the steering handle 23, there is provided a handle grip 25 which is rotated for controlling the opening of the throttle through a cable 32. In this case, a shift lever 39 is pivotally fitted on the steering handle 23, thus operating the ahead/astern selecting device through the cable 44.
