In the enviromental-friendly treatment of synthetic organic waste for recovery of valuable hydrocarbon prodts by hydrocracking at 300-540 deg.C and 50-450 bars H2 pressure so that hetero atoms are converted (predominantly) to their hydrogen cpds., the novelty is that (most of) the synthetic organic waste is fed to the hydrocracking operation while other waste is fed to a waste incineration operation. Any vegetable content of thee other waste may be sepd. for composting. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful in the disposal of domestic and industrial waste including opt. halogenated plastics, paint and lacquer residues, oils, solvents and the like. The process avoids formation of halogenated dioxins and furans and, since the synthetic organic waste is treated separately, the rest of the waste can be incinerated without the need for very high temps. The hydrocarbon prods. can be used in synthesis gas prodn., in coking or esp. in the incineration operation.
