The view-finder for a camera has an optical system (60) and a mask mounted in a frame (52) to limit the field of view. The view-finder also includes a mirror (20) which reflects light which has passed through the frame (52) and lens (53) to the eye (B) of the observer. The observer then sees an image in the plane (51). The mirror (20) is of the type which is both partly reflective and partly transparent. The view finder mask (52) is mounted on the same side of the mirror (20) as the optical system (60) and the central region of the mirror (21) has a different degree of reflectivity and transparency from the outer region (35).
