<p>PURPOSE:To identify other bodies with proper beam width and to detect the distance and relative speed to the body with high accuracy by switching an antenna switch by a switching controller at constant intervals of time and varying the beam width of an antenna. CONSTITUTION:Antenna element 1a forming an array antenna 1 are connected and disconnected by the antenna switch 2. For example, when the switching controller 4 turns on the switch 2 to connect the elements 1a in parallel, the beam width of the antenna 1 is narrowed down and when the switch 2 is turned off to disconnect the elements 1a which are connected to the switch 2, the beam width become wide. Thus, the beam width of the antenna 1 is varied to obtain proper beam width corresponding to the distance to another vehicle or obstacle. Consequently, other bodies are identified with the proper beam width and the distance and relative speed can be detected with high accuracy.</p> |
