PURPOSE:To obtain a cellulosic substance, having a high tensile elastic modulus and useful for coating gauze, etc., therewith by subjecting a microorganism belonging to the genus Acetobacter to foamy culturing. CONSTITUTION:A gas, liquid or solid containing a foaming agent and oxygen is added into a culture medium and a microorganism [e.g. Acetobacter.aceti.subsp..xylinum (ATCC 10821)] belonging to the genus Acetobacter is subjected to foamy culturing in which a pressure is applied to the culture solution to carry out control. Thereby, a cellulosic substance is obtained. |
