The feeder-machine (1) for packages (2) such as boxes and cartons being conveyed along a horizontal main belt (3) or chain conveyor and transfers them into a parallel conveyor belt (4) for sorting or distributing. A continuous conveyor, for example a double feeder-chain (5), is positioned over the conveyor belts (3,4) and is motor-driven. The feeder chain (5) has conveyor-plates (8) which automatically move from a non-operating position into an operating position parallel to the direction (a) in which the conveyor belts (3,4) travel, into the path of the packages (2) and vice versa to underneath the lower stringer (9) of the feeder-chain (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - The distributor or sorter for packets is simple, more compact and economical than previous similar conveyors.
