<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a tracking error signal over the whole area of a recording track by generating the tracking error signal from the value of difference to the value of each counted value holding means obtained when first and second heads scan a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:From the fixed time synchronized with the rotary phase of a rotary drum, the reproducing time of a specified signal obtained when a first head 30 scans the magnetic tape is held and the value is hourly delayed. Then, the time of the difference to the reproducing time of a specified signal obtained when a second head 31 scans the magnetic tape is calculated. Accord ingly, even in a VTR not to use a pair head, the tracking error signal can be calculated from the reproducing time of the specified signals, which are mutually changed in a reverse direction by off-track quantity and reproduced by the first and second heads 30 and 31. Thus, the tracking error signal can be obtained over the whole area of the recording track.</p> |
