The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for packing flexible packages such as snack food bags, comprising splitting a single line of packages (5) on a conveyor into a number of separate lines in a separator (12) so as to provide transverse rows of packages, centralizing said packages in each row in a centraliser (13) so as to partially overlap each other, subsequently lifting up each row of centralised packages using vacuum pads (62,64), placing said packages into an open top outer carton (4) so as not to allow the packages to drop by gravity; the rows being stacked in tiers in the carton. |
