STANDARD SOURCE OF MIMIC DRUM CAN

PURPOSE:To produce the standard source which allows the rapid and smooth execution of a calibration operation by packing granular packing materials into the drum can having the shape approximated to the shape of a radioactive waste drum can, then injecting a radioactive soln. therein and exchanging the can. CONSTITUTION:Glass beads are packed from a feed port A into the mimic drum can 1 and the can is mounted to a handling device 4. A soln. preparing tank 2 is mounted to a handling device 5 and the radioactive soln. is put therein and is stirred. This tank is set in an upper position, by which the radioactive soln. is injected through a vinyl hose 3 into the can 1. An upper flange A of the can 1 is closed and the can 1 is rotated 180 deg.. A valve (c) is removed and a lower flange B is closed. The standard source is completed in this state. One end of the hose 3 is then connected to a waste liquid tank 6 and the radioactive waste is drained. Distilled water is injected into the tank 2 and is injected into and drained from the can 1 to wash the inside of the can 1. After the washing is repeated several times, another radioactive nuclide is injected therein. Another ray source for calibration is thereby produced by using the same can 1.
