1343796 Phenothiazines SOC GENERALE DE RECHERCHES ET D'APPLICATIONS SCIENTIFIQUES 13 July 1972 [7 July 1971] 31874/71 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R<SP>2</SP>=alkyl, alkenyl; A=(CH 2 ) 3 , X=Cl, CF 3 , OMe, SO 2 NMe 2 ), their esters with alkanoic, alkenoic and alkynoic acids containing at least five carbon atoms, and salts of the alcohols and esters are prepared by (a) reacting a compound of the formula (B= reactive radical) with a compound of the formula (b) reducing a compound of the formula (R<SP>1</SP> = C 1-4 alkyl), optionally followed in either case by catalytic hydrogenation (R<SP>2</SP>=alkenyl), acylation and/or salt formation, or (c)-in the case of the esters-reacting a compound of the formula (Z=reactive ester radical) with an alkali metal salt of the appropriate acid, optionally followed by salt formation. The preparation of starting materials for process (b) and of 2-(3-chloro-2-methylpropoxy) tetrahydropyran and 2 - methoxy - 10 - (2- hydroxymethylpropyl)phenothiazine is described. The above compounds are central nervous system sedatives and neuroleptic agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier. |
