Internal combustion engines suffer from the problem that, irrespective of the underpressure in the inlet tube (11), varying proportions of the fuel fed in deposit at least temporarily as a film on the inside wall of the inlet tube. Removal of this film (20) depends on the operating conditions. Proposed is a device which, by means of a predictor which indicates the conditions to be expected in the inlet tube, these conditions having been determined previously, by experiment and/or by calculation, using a model. The device has a sensor (21) for detecting the presence of the wall film and whose signals support the work of the predictor. The difference, caused by the operation of the engine, between the actual instantaneous fuel/air ratio delivered to the combustion chamber and the given fuel/air ratio (e.g. 1:15) is taken into account in the form of a correction factor when regulating the instantaneous fuel supply. |
