The device consists of a drive means 8, of a first transmission shaft driving one, 3, of the two leaves through the use of a first transmission means 19, 20, of a second transmission shaft driving the other leaf 4, through the use of a second transmission means 15, 16 the transmission ratio of which is lower than that of the first means, of a device 22 interposed between the said first transmission shaft and the said first transmission means 19, 20 providing clutch release when the resistive torque reaches a given value, then momentary continuance of the rotation of the said first shaft, and of a device 39 to 44 detecting that the rotation has stopped after clutch release of the said first and second transmission shafts and commanding the stopping of the said drive means 8.
