The plastics adaptor connects plastics pipes to metal fittings or pipes, particularly in a heating or sanitation system. It comprises a sleeve with stepped bore in one end into which the plastic pipe is welded, and a bush of sprayed metal at the other with peripheral external grooves. The bush is tapped or externally-threaded to engage with a fitting. One at least of the groove (10) has an inclined dovetail-type flank (10a), so that its cross-section widens towards the bottom (10b). An annular groove (11) is formed in the end of the bush bore (6) towards the plastic pipe, and is filled by the plastic of the sleeve (2). ADVANTAGE - Absolutely watertight at temperatures and pressures up to 95 deg.C and 10 bar respectively.
