PURPOSE:To lower an operating voltage and to realize a small size by a method wherein a high-frequency alternating-current electric discharge is executed, in a direction perpendicular to light, between electrodes which have been installed along a light path on a glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes which are faced in two rows along a light path are installed on a dielectric substrate of a glass or the like. A gas is excited by executing an alternating-current electric discharge in a direction perpendicular to the light path. A radiation from the excited gas is amplified by using an optical resonator composed of two reflecting mirrors which have been installed at both end parts of the light path. For example, lead wires 3 are extended from electrodes 2 which have been arranged in two rows at a gap of about 1mm on a glass substrate 1; a total reflector 4 is fixed onto the glass substrate 1 by using a frit glass and is attached to a side-face container 6 via a mirror support body 5. A laser resonator is formed together with an output mirror 5' whose angle can be adjusted. Thereby, an operating voltage can be lowered and the external size can be made small. |
