<p>A method and apparatus of making a hollow-shaped body from molten resin including cutting a hole through the resin after it has cooled and into a fluid aperture formed during a fluid injection step which distributes resin over the interior mold surfaces. The fluid aperture is in communication with the interior of the hollow-shaped body and is preferably located in the runner or sprue of the mold. A cutting member (72) is located in the mold and has a surface (76) which at least partially defines a resin flow path. Cutting is accomplished by moving the cutting member (72) in a controlled fashion between a molding position and a relieving position to cut the hole. The cutting member (72) includes a fluid-relieving aperture (86). The fluid-relieving aperture (86) is in communication with the fluid aperture in the relieving position (84) of the cutting member (72) to relieve pressure through the fluid-relieving aperture (86).</p> |
