The purpose of the invention is a cost-effective method of the cooling of the exit gas composed of hydrogen chloride saturated with reagents' vapours that is released in the reaction. The above-mentioned purpose is achieved in the following way: the exit gas drawn off from the esterification reactor at temperatures of 130 to 200 degrees C is treated with counter-flow fed materials like alkyl phenols, phenol and phosphoric oxichloride, either separately or with their mixture in a temperature of 5 to 110 degrees C.
