A layout is produced which makes it possible to pass from a full- bridge use to the half-bridge use of an invertor (7) of a high-voltage generator by replacing a circuit (20) for connecting a centre point of a first rectifier (1) of this generator to a centre point (21) of the invertor, via a circuit (T5, T6) frequency-controlled (8) at the rate at which the invertor itself is controlled. This solution makes it possible to render the two layouts compatible and to pass automatically from one to the other as a function of either a significant power to be provided, or of a ripple of a residual voltage rectified by a second rectifier not to be tolerated. <IMAGE>
