<p>PURPOSE: To improve mechanical strength and the storage capability of water and air by impregnating inorg. fiber felt arranged in parallel or a laminar form on front and rear surfaces with a resin binder and compressing this felt, then heat treating the felt to crosslink the binder. CONSTITUTION: Annular woolen bodies 2 of the inorg. fibers having an average fiber diameter of 2 to 12μm are supplied to a conveyor belt 4 and are subjected to a pressure reduction in a tank 5 disposed in the lower part of a receiving chamber 3. After the resin binder is sprayed thereto, these bodies are arranged in the layers parallel with the front and rear surfaces or in the laminar form. Next, the sheet 6 formed in such a manner is passed between two pieces of conveyors 7, 8 and a pair of conveyors 9, 10 and 11, 12, by which the sheet is compressed 1.5 to 15 times in a longitudinal direction and the inorg. fiber felt having a volumetric weight of <=60kg/m2 is obtd. Next, the felt is introduced into a heating furnace 13 and is heat treated to crosslink the binder and is then cut to a desired size.</p> |
