Herbicidal and plant growth-regulating substituted phenoxyphenylsulphonylazoles of the formula <IMAGE> (I) in which R1 represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano or trifluoromethyl, R2 represents hydrogen or halogen, R3 represents halogen, cyano, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy or trifluoromethylsulphonyl, R4 represents hydrogen or halogen, R5 represents hydrogen or halogen, R6 represents hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro or amino and Az represents optionally substituted azolyl.
