Novel substituted piperidines of the formula are disclosed: <IMG> wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl 1-4 carbon atoms and 2hydroxy-ethyl and R is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or cyclohexyl group wherein the substituents are hydrogen and methyl. These compounds find use as anesthetics, antiarrhythmics, inhibitors of interneurons and antiepileptic agents.
