<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture subject structure having large slit interval and small pressure loss, high adsorption speed and large adsorption volume and useful for air purification by disposing a carbon porous layer with bulk density, specific surface area and carbon content within the specified range, composed of a carbonized and activated phenol resin foamed material in parallel with the flow of adsorption fluid. CONSTITUTION:A carbon porous material constitutes a filter structure. Said porous material is manufactured by carbonizing a phenol resin foamed material and then activating. Its bulk density is 0.05 to 0.5g/cm<3>, carbon content is 85 to 95% and specific surface area is 500m<2>/g or more. A filter structure of good balance of pressure loss and deodorizing performance is manufactured to be utilized for air purification by disposing said carbon porous layer in the direction in parallel with the flow of fluid containing a substance to adsorb said layer. As for the phenol resin foamed material, preferably resole type phenol resin is used, and chlorofluorocarbon R11 or the like is used as a foaming agent and sulfuric acid or the like is used as a curing agent. Carbonization is carried out by calcinating in the hydrogen gas under reduced pressure, heating under oxidizing gas atmosphere and activating.</p> |
