Between the cistern (2) and the toilet bowl (1), a housing (5) is interposed contg. an enlarged water pipe (3a) with a branch (6) upward to an active carbon filter (7), through which fumes are drawn by a fan (9) into a space contg. an ultraviolet lamp (11). Purified air is released through nozzles (10) into the area around the bowl. The fan (9) and lamp (11) may be switched-on by lifting of the lid (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - In hospital and public toilets. Compact device can be retrofitted easily to existing flush systems. Air is disinfected and deodorised sufficiently for recirculation.
