PURPOSE:To shorten the time for heating and cooling and to uniformize quality by housing a carbon contg. material to be calcined in a muffle vessel in which a space is formed around this material and calcining the material by radiation heat and convection heat in a specific form. CONSTITUTION:The calcination of the carbon-contg. material to be calcined is executed in the following manner at the time of calcining this material in a nonoxidative atmosphere: The material to be calcined is first housed into the muffle vessel in the state of forming the space around the material. The outside surface of the wall of the muffle vessel in which coke breeze is packed between the outside wall and inside wall consisting of refractory materials having a good heat conductivity is exposed to a heat source. The radiation heat from the surface of the inside wall thereof and the heat by the convection of the gas deprived of oxygen by this coke breeze to have a reducing property in the muffle vessel are applied to the material to be calcined, by which the material is calcined. The amt. of the coke breeze through which the heat heading from the outside wall to the inside wall passes is minimized by the above- mentioned method and, therefore, the good heat conduction is obtd. and the maintenance cost of the device is reduced. |
