Replaceable link for snow chain - comprises open link closed by hinged locking piece and securing pin

The snow chain is held together by coupling links (1) which are set to lie against the tyre with a cutting surface (2) directed onto the road. The links are closed by a link piece (5) which has profiled notches on each side to slip under the open ends of the C-shaped link. The open ends (6) then secure the link and section while a securing pin (8) is slid into a prepared hole in the base of the link. The securing pin can be a conventional slit pin or a nut and bolt. To replace worn links the pin/bolt is simply drifted out and the link twisted out of the chain.
