摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display device equipped with an MIM element which is large in the degree of freedom of device designing and has high mechanical strength and facilitate an increase in area by using a hard carbon film as the insulating film of the MIM element and connecting plural MIM elements in series for each picture element. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display device which has a liquid crystal layer between a couple of transparent substrates and is provided with a common electrode and plural picture element electrodes connected through metal- insulator-metal (MIM) elements on the internal surface of one substrate uses the hard carbon film as the insulating film of each MIM element; and two MIM elements 3 are connected to a common scanning electrode 9 in series for each picture element electrode 2 and one MIM element 3 is provided nearby a scanning electrode lead-out part 12. Consequently, the liquid crystal display device which is large in the degree of freedom of device designing and eliminates restrictions of the substrate material and facilitates the increase in area is realized.</p>
