PURPOSE:To allow the control of the pretilt angle of the liquid crystal display element with an easy production process by changing the temp. at which a liquid crystal is injected into a cell. CONSTITUTION:Two sheets of transparent substrates formed with electrodes and orienting materials are carried by maintaining a specified cell gap in such a manner that the orienting materials face each other. The liquid crystal is injected into the spacing between such transparent substrates. This production process utilizes that the pretilt angle of the liquid crystal is changed by the injection temp. of this time. The oscillation and rotating motion of the functional groups on the surface of the oriented films are vigorous when the temp. of the liquid crystal cell increases. The arrangement of the main chains that the liquid crystal constitutes the oriented films is then hardly identifiable. As a result, the anchoring force of the oriented films weakens and, therefore, the pretilt angle increases. The control of the pretilt angle with the easy production process is possible in this way. |
