PURPOSE: To obtain a therapeutic agent for treating malignant tumor, including DDB alone or in combination with chemotherapeutics. CONSTITUTION: This therapeutic agent for treating malignant tumor includes dimethyl-4,4'-dicarboxy-5, 6, 5', 6'-dimethylenedioxybiphenyl-2, 2'-dicarboxylate (DDB) of the formula alone or in combination with a purine synthesis inhibitor (e.g. 6-mercaptopurine and methotrexate) or a pyrimidine synthesis inhibitor as active ingredients. A unit administrating preparation is prepared by including 30-150mg, preferably 45-60mg of the above compound in a carrier and preferably administered in a daily dose of 1.25-6.25mg/Kg. The DDB has an effect for preventing hepar and is capable of suppressing cirrhosis complication caused when using other chemotherapeutics alone by using the DDB in combination. |
