PURPOSE:To make a system light-weight and to execute a correspondence to many kinds of operating systems by including a read-only memory built in the operating system and a connector attachable and removable to an external device. CONSTITUTION:A memory card 1 main body can be attached and removed to and from a computer system by inserting and pulling a connector 3 to the computer system not to be indicated in a figure. To ROMs 4 and 5 on a multilayer substrate 2, the programs of the operating systems are stored, and to RAMs 6-9, the programs of users are stored. A control part 10 controls the selection of the ROMs 4 and 5 and RAMs 6-9 by addresses from the external part. A power source control part 11 receives the supply of the power from the computer system through the connector 3, and when the supply of the power is not executed through the connector 3, the power is supplied from a battery 12 for conserving contents to the RAMs 6-9. Outer covers 14 and 15 protect a memory cell, etc., on the multilayer substrate 2 from the influences of a magnetism, an electric field and a pressure.
