Process for the preparation of a new naphthylpropionic derivative, and, more specifically, a zinc compound of (+)-2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)propionic acid, characterised by the following formula I: <IMAGE> In accordance with the process the (+)-2-(6-methoxy-2- naphthyl)propionic acid is reacted with zinc oxide, hydroxides, carbonates or salts, or a corresponding salt of the said acid is caused to react with a zinc salt. The reaction takes place in a polar solvent. Has application in the manufacture of pharmaceutical compounds having an anti-inflammatory/antirheumatic action and protective activity.
