PURPOSE:To attain reduction without loss or separation of thin lines in a character or the like while keeping its density by applying filter processing to a binary picture data, reducing the result and deciding a binary output to a specific pattern not through a filter. CONSTITUTION:A binary picture data such as 3X3 picture element or the like segmented by a segmentation section 1 is smoothed by a filter 3 and becomes a reduced binary picture data by a comparator 6. On the other hand, the binary picture data of a special pattern such as thin lines is a reduced binary picture data based on the reference with an exemption output table 4. The reduced binary picture data is outputted via switches 6, 7 in response to the pattern of the binary picture data from the pattern detection section 2 and the picture reduction without loss and separation of thin lines of a character or the like is attained while keeping the density. |
