The peristaltic pump according to the present invention is of the type in which a looped tube is squeezed by the rotating rollers in a housing. The improvements according to the present invention in a pump of this type reside in that a flexible tube having a large wall thickness for its inner diameter is stretched to a suitable length and passed around rollers so as to apply a suitable tensile force to the tube, whereby a fluid delivery speed and pressure far higher than those with a conventional pump of the same type can be attained. This enables the tube to be replaced very easily, and the range of application of the tube pump to be greatly increased.
