PURPOSE:To form a sheet whose surfaces both can be polished, by arranging a second cooling roll in such a way that it can be moved on the circumference of a first cooling roll, introducing a cooled sheet into a water tank, and allowing the water level in the water tank to be varied. CONSTITUTION:A surface A is cooled by a first cooling roll 4, and when the surface A is passed a nip point (a) to be moved onto a second cooling roll 21, the temperature thereof is elevated until it is immersed into a water tank 22. When the surface A is immersed in the water tank, the temperature thereof drops sharply, and the dropping of the temperature continues during the movement through the water tank 23 via guide rolls 23, 24, 25. Then when the surface has left the water tank 22, the temperature thereof is elevated again to reach approximately the temperature of the middle C of the sheet. On the other hand, when the surface B has left the nip point (a), the temperature thereof drops, and then the temperature continues to rise from the point where it leaves the second roll 21 to the point where it is immersed in the water tank 22. When the surface B is immersed in the water tank 22, the temperature drops sharply to reach approximately to that of the surface A, and its state becomes similar to that of the surface A. |
