<p>PURPOSE:To detect the deterioration of a load cell and to prevent the lowering of sheet-thickness accuracy by measuring the accuracy of sheet thickness under at least two kinds of large and small rolling loads in each case of using a new load cell or an old one and performing the comparison by using the former case as the reference sheet thickness accuracy. CONSTITUTION:New load cells 9a, 9b are first mounted on a pair of right and left housings 3 of a tandem mill 2 respectively. A strip 1 is actually rolled by the mill 2. For every kind of steel of a strip 1 at that time, and under at least two kinds of large and small rolling loads, the accuracies of sheet thicknesses are measured respectively by a thickness meter, etc., and these are stored as the reference sheet-thickness accuracies in a storage device. Next, in actual rolling operation, the same kind of steel as the stored one, is rolled under the same two kinds of large and small rolling loads. These thickness accuracies are measured in the same manner by the sheet thickness meter, etc. By comparing these accuracies with the reference ones, the deterioration of load cells are automatically detected. Then the cells are exchanged for new ones when they are deteriorated.</p> |
