PURPOSE:To enable diffusion joint to metal with high joint strength without deteriorating mechanical characteristics by incorporating both Si3N4 being a main component and a sintering adjuvant consisting of a specified amount of Y2O3, Al2O3 and ZrO2. CONSTITUTION:A sintering adjuvant (b) consisting of >=0.5mol% (hereinafter %) Y2O3 (i), >=0.5% Al2O3 (ii) and >=1.0% ZrO2 (iii) is mixed with Si3N4 being main component (a) at the rate of 6 to 30% as total of (i) to (iii). Thereafter the ceramics are obtained by sintering this mixture by hot pressing in the nitrogen atmosphere of about 1MPa in the conditions of about 20MPa maximum pressurization, for about 1 hour and at 1650 to 1750 deg.C sintering temp. This ceramics are superposed on metal (e.g. aluminum alloy) and heated at 300 to 650 deg.C under pressurization in the vacuum atmosphere to join both. |
